From Electrical Trade to Director of Lime Construction Group
Karl Foster is a Director and Co-Founder of Lime Construction Group, bringing decades of hands-on experience across electrical, residential, and commercial construction.
His career began at just 16, when he entered the electrical trade. Coming from a strong commercial background, Karl spent his early years working on offices, retail spaces, and larger-scale commercial projects. That environment demanded precision, strict safety standards, and a disciplined approach to delivery — values that continue to shape how Lime Construction Group operates today.
Expanding into Residential Construction
At 24, Karl made the move into the housing sector. Over the next five years, he worked extensively on residential projects, including new builds, upgrades, and improvements within people’s homes.
This period marked a shift in perspective. Residential work brought a closer connection to clients and communities, highlighting the importance of trust, communication, and respect for lived-in spaces. It also deepened Karl’s understanding of how construction impacts people beyond the build itself.
Becoming Self-Employed and Managing Projects End to End
With experience across both commercial and residential sectors, Karl took the step into self-employment. He began running contracts for a range of contractors, managing teams on site, and delivering projects from start to finish.
This stage of his career developed key leadership skills — balancing timelines, budgets, client expectations, and on-site coordination. It also established a reputation for reliability, organisation, and consistent quality across different types of construction work.
Founding Lime Construction Group
With the experience and confidence gained over years on site, Karl went on to co-found Lime Construction Group. The business was built on a clear vision: to deliver high-quality construction services with transparency, precision, and accountability.
Today, Lime Construction Group operates across Bristol, Bath, and the wider South West, delivering residential and commercial builds, refurbishments, restorations, and fit-out projects. Regardless of scale or sector, the same standards apply — careful planning, clear communication, and pride in workmanship.
Local Roots in Hanham and the Bristol Area
Karl lives in Hanham with his wife and children, who attend the local school. Being part of the local community plays an important role in how he approaches the business.
Many Lime Construction Group projects take place in and around Bristol and Bath, often close to home. This local connection brings an added sense of responsibility — not just to deliver quality work, but to contribute positively to the areas where clients live and work.
Being rooted in the community helps keep the business grounded, accountable, and motivated to maintain high standards.
Why Practical Experience Still Matters in Construction
Karl’s background across electrical work, residential construction, and commercial projects provides a deep understanding of how buildings function at every stage.
This experience allows Lime Construction Group to:
-
Coordinate electrical, structural, and building works effectively
-
Manage projects realistically from start to finish
-
Maintain safety, quality, and consistency on site
-
Deliver projects with clarity and confidence
Practical experience remains central to how the company operates day to day.
Built on Experience, Guided by Values
From electrical apprentice to Director and Co-Founder of Lime Construction Group, Karl’s journey reflects steady progression grounded in real-world experience.
The core principles have remained consistent throughout: doing solid work, treating people fairly, and building projects that last. Those values continue to guide Lime Construction Group as it grows across the South West.
